Aradel Holdings, the Nigerian energy powerhouse led by multimillionaire businessman Ladi Jadesimi, has achieved a historic financial milestone, reporting a 361.1% surge in profitability for the 2024 fiscal year. The company’s profit skyrocketed to N247.8 billion ($160.1 million), up from N53.7 billion ($34.6 million) in 2023, firmly establishing it as one of Nigeria’s most profitable energy firms.
This financial success was fueled by a remarkable 162.7% revenue growth, as the company’s earnings jumped from N221.14 billion ($142.5 million) in 2023 to N581.02 billion ($374.4 million) in 2024. The growth was driven by increased crude oil production, higher crude oil lifting volumes, and improved pipeline utilization through the Alternative Crude Evacuation (ACE) route.
Record Crude and Gas Production Boost Revenue
Aradel’s crude lifting volumes soared to 3.1 million barrels in 2024, a significant increase from the 2.1 million barrels lifted in 2023. The company also ramped up crude oil production, averaging 13,751 barrels per day, reflecting a 41% rise from 9,739 barrels per day in the previous year.
In the gas segment, production increased by 22% to 32.4 million standard cubic feet per day (5,717 barrels of oil equivalent per day), up from 26.6 million standard cubic feet per day (4,691 barrels of oil equivalent per day) in 2023. Additionally, refined petroleum sales climbed by 14.5%, reaching 240.5 million liters, compared to 210.1 million liters in 2023.
Strategic Expansions and Acquisitions
Aradel’s CEO, Adegbite Falade, attributed the company’s stellar performance to sustained operational efficiency and strategic expansion. Key operational highlights in 2024 included:
•Successful re-entry of Well 2ST in the Omerelu Field, achieving first oil on May 1, 2024.
•Completion of Wells 14 and 15, concluding Phase 1 of a four-well turnkey drilling campaign.
•Kick-off of Phase 2, with Well 16 nearing completion.
•Expansion of crude evacuation infrastructure, enhancing throughput capacity to support continued production growth.
•Acquisition of Olo and Olo West Marginal Fields from the TotalEnergies/NNPC joint venture.
•Agreement to acquire a minority equity stake in Chappal Energies Mauritius Limited, an energy company focusing on deep value and brownfield upstream opportunities in Africa.
Aradel’s Role in Shell’s SPDC Acquisition
Beyond its upstream and midstream operations, Aradel is an equity participant in Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, the firm that acquired Shell’s 100% equity interest in Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Limited. Ministerial Consent has been secured for the acquisition, positioning Aradel for further expansion in the Nigerian energy sector.
Surging Assets and Equity Growth
Aradel’s financial performance also translated into significant balance sheet growth. As of Dec. 31, 2024:
•Total assets increased by 89% to N1.744 trillion ($1.12 billion), up from N923.4 billion ($594.8 million) in 2023.
•Total equity surged from N704.6 billion ($454 million) to N1.39 trillion ($895.4 million).
•Retained earnings climbed from N209.2 billion ($134.8 million) to N384.04 billion ($247.4 million).
A Legacy of Growth and Transformation
Founded in 1992 by the late Godwin Aret Adams as Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc, Aradel Holdings has undergone a remarkable transformation under Ladi Jadesimi’s leadership. Today, the company stands as a fully integrated energy group, spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, with a growing portfolio of oil and gas assets.
With record-breaking profitability, aggressive expansion, and strategic acquisitions, Aradel is on course to further cement its dominance in Nigeria’s energy sector, positioning itself as a key player in the continent’s oil and gas landscape.
