Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against NBCUniversal, Peacock, and Ample Entertainment over the controversial documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. The film, which aired on Peacock, revisits long-standing allegations against Diddy, including sexual assault, sex trafficking, and even involvement in multiple murders—claims he has vehemently denied.
The lawsuit, led by attorney Erica Wolff, accuses the filmmakers of “reckless disregard for the truth”, arguing that they prioritized sensationalism over facts to drive viewership. Diddy claims the documentary falsely depicts him as a “monster” and the “embodiment of Lucifer”, exploiting unverified accusations for entertainment.
Diddy’s Trial Set for May 2025
Beyond his lawsuit against NBCUniversal, Diddy faces mounting legal troubles, including federal criminal charges that could land him in prison for life. Currently detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, he is scheduled to stand trial in May 2025.
Prosecutors have filed a superseding indictment, accusing him of using force, threats, and coercion to compel at least three women into commercial sex acts. The charges also include physical abuse allegations, with claims that Diddy hit, choked, and even dangled a victim over a balcony.
His legal team has requested the release of nine videos mentioned in the indictment, arguing that they contain consensual adult encounters and that the government is trying to police nonconforming sexual activity.

As Diddy’s legal and financial troubles mount, he has begun selling off assets. In September 2024, he offloaded several high-value properties as lawsuits and criminal charges piled up.

This ruling adds to a string of lawsuits filed against him since late 2023, with at least six individuals accusing him of sexual misconduct, sex trafficking, and drugging victims.
Once worth over $1 billion, Diddy’s net worth has plummeted due to his ongoing legal battles. To ease financial strain, he recently sold his remaining stake in Revolt, the Black-owned media platform he co-founded in 2013.
