Billionaire Mike Adenuga’s telecom powerhouse, Globacom, is making bold moves to expand its presence in Nigeria’s northeast with the launch of a new Gloworld retail outlet in Maiduguri, Borno State. This strategic expansion underscores the company’s commitment to deepening customer engagement and strengthening its influence in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
The newly launched Gloworld outlet is designed to enhance customer experience by offering seamless telecom solutions, device sales, and digital services. As part of Globacom’s broader strategy, the company continues to invest in infrastructure and retail networks to extend its reach across Nigeria’s underserved regions.
Bridging the Digital Divide in the North-East
Speaking on the expansion, Augustine Mamuro, Globacom’s Regional Sales Coordinator for the North-East, emphasized the company’s focus on accessibility and customer satisfaction. “At Globacom, we are committed to ensuring that Nigerians have easy access to quality telecommunications services. Our retail expansion strategy is centered around innovation and inclusiveness,” he stated.
The initiative received praise from Borno State’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, who commended Globacom for its efforts in improving digital access. He highlighted the importance of telecom expansion in driving socio-economic development, particularly in a region striving for digital inclusion.
Globacom’s Broader Digital Push
Beyond retail expansion, Adenuga’s telecom giant is heavily investing in Nigeria’s tech future. Following the launch of its digital innovation hub in Lagos, the company has unveiled plans to establish additional hubs in Port Harcourt, Ibadan, and Abuja by mid-2025. These hubs will serve as incubation centers for tech entrepreneurs and startups, reinforcing Globacom’s role in shaping Nigeria’s digital transformation.
As competition intensifies in the telecom sector, Globacom continues to set itself apart through strategic investments in customer-centric infrastructure. With this latest expansion, Adenuga is once again proving why Globacom remains a dominant force in Nigeria’s telecom industry.
