Dr. Nnaemeka Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, born on April 17, 1960, in Okija, Anambra State, Nigeria, is a distinguished entrepreneur renowned for his substantial contributions to various sectors of the Nigerian economy, notably oil and gas, aviation, and telecommunications. His educational journey began at St. John’s School, Fegge Onitsha, but was interrupted by the Nigerian Civil War in 1967. After the war, he completed his primary education at New Bethel Primary School in Onitsha. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Benin and was honored with a Doctorate in Business Administration by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2009.
In the early 1980s, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi founded Obijackson West Africa Limited, marking his initial foray into entrepreneurship. By 1991, he had diversified into the oil and gas industry with the establishment of Nestoil Limited, a company that has since become a cornerstone of the Obijackson Group. Under his visionary leadership, Nestoil has evolved into Nigeria’s largest indigenous Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) company, executing significant projects such as:
• The $1.1 billion, 97-kilometer NCTL pipeline installation for Shell.
• The $700 million Obiafu/Obrikom to Oben Gas (OB3) Pipeline construction.
• The Shell Kolo-Creek-Rumuekpe Trunkline Replacement Project (KCTL).
Beyond Nestoil, the Obijackson Group’s diverse portfolio includes:
• Neconde Energy Limited: Established in 2011, this company acquired a 45% stake in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42 in the Niger Delta for $585 million, managing assets with a combined capacity of 345,000 barrels of liquid per day.
• Nesto Aviation Services (NestAv): Launched in August 2013, NestAv provides both fixed and rotary-wing flight solutions, catering to VIPs, corporations, and offshore oil and gas logistics.
• Shipside Drydock Limited: Located on the Okirika Creek in Port Harcourt, this subsidiary offers maintenance and repair services for various marine and offshore vessels, with a lifting capacity of up to 5,000 tons.
• Julius Berger Nigeria Plc: Through his company, Watertown Energy Limited, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi holds a 12.89% stake in this leading construction conglomerate.
• Acropolis Gardens & Residence: Situated in his hometown of Okija, this luxurious development features 200 serviced apartments and Nigeria’s first international golf course city, boasting a nine-hole, par-36 golf course.
• Century Power Generation: Currently developing a 1,500-megawatt gas-fired power plant in Okija, this $700 million project aims to bolster Nigeria’s power supply.
In addition to his business ventures, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi is deeply committed to philanthropy through the Obijackson Foundation, which undertakes infrastructural and social projects in Okija and beyond. His extensive contributions to Nigeria’s industrial landscape and his dedication to community development have cemented his status as a pivotal figure in the nation’s economic progress.
