Dangote Group, Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has reaffirmed its position as Nigeria’s largest taxpayer, with total tax remittances exceeding N402 billion ($267 Million) in 2024. This underscores the company’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and economic development.

The disclosure was made by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communication Officer of the Dangote Group, during an interactive session with senior media executives in Lagos. He stated that the tax payments were made by Dangote Cement, NASCON, Dangote Packaging Limited, and other subsidiaries, consolidating the conglomerate’s reputation as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant corporate entity.

Recognized as Nigeria’s Most Tax-Compliant Organization

Earlier in 2024, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) honored Dangote Industries Limited and its subsidiary Bluestar Shipping as the most tax-compliant organizations in Nigeria. The recognition came during the FIRS Special Day at the Lagos International Trade Fair, organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

With the FIRS playing a crucial role in revenue collection for the federal government, Dangote Group’s consistent tax remittances highlight its leadership in corporate governance and national development.

Dangote’s Commitment to Corporate Responsibility

Beyond its tax contributions, the Dangote Group remains a major force in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The company has invested heavily in community development projects, infrastructure, and social impact initiatives.

“As a responsible business entity, the Dangote Group ensures timely and full tax remittance at all levels of government. We also prioritize community engagement and social impact initiatives, furthering our commitment to national development,” Chiejina stated.

Powering Industrial Growth and Economic Self-Sufficiency

Over the past four decades, the Dangote Group has transformed from a commodity trading company into a continent-spanning industrial powerhouse, with investments in cement, sugar refining, salt production, oil refining, and petrochemicals.

The group has played a pivotal role in making Nigeria self-sufficient in cement production and is now advancing the country’s energy independence with the Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest privately-owned oil refinery.

Industry Leadership and Multiple Accolades

Dangote Group’s dominance extends beyond taxation and industrialization—it continues to set records in Nigeria’s financial markets. At the FMDQ Gold Awards in Lagos, its subsidiary Dangote Cement Plc secured three major awards, solidifying its leadership:

•Most Active Business in the Foreign Exchange Market

•Largest Commercial Paper Quotation on FMDQ

•Single Largest Corporate Debt Issue on FMDQ

Additionally, Dangote Industries Limited was recognized as the Most Active Corporate in the Foreign Exchange Market, further reinforcing its economic influence.

With a firm grip on Nigeria’s industrial, financial, and tax landscapes, the Dangote Group remains one of Africa’s most formidable business empires, driving national progress and setting benchmarks for corporate excellence.
